Jodi Arias: Are "Jodi Arias Is Innocent" Supporters At Risk For Domestic Violence

Associated Press
If you ever get tired of reading all the blogs that support a guilty verdict against Jodi Arias, then head on over to jodiariasisinnocent.com. This site is an eye-opener in delusion, co-dependancy and hypocrisy. Many of the posters on this site are admitted domestic violence victims and they've taken up the Jodi Arias Is Innocent rallying cry, despite evidence to the contrary.  I often wonder if people this delusional  are at greater risk of encountering and suffering at the hands of psychopaths or violent individuals. They seem easily manipulated by emotion, and a skilled manipulator like Jodi, would have them for breakfast. I think that many of them have found themselves in abusive situations because of that issue. I'm certainly not blaming the victims, but pointing out that manipulators and abusers are predators and they size up their prey beforehand and have an uncanny knack for choosing partners with personalities and situations who might be less inclined to call them out on their disturbing behavior, and more inclined to put up with it.

If any of these people were given the chance to host Jodi at their homes, they would be greeted with a very sweet and gracious houseguest....for about 2 days. Then the change would take place. She would slowly morph into the manipulative psychopath she is. The host would make excuses for her troubling behavior and even try harder to please her. Jodi would lash out in anger and betrayal. The host would assume the  behavior was a result of poor Jodi's long incarceration, and they'd be sympathetic. Until the next outburst, when they'd again twist the events in a way that allows them to continue being sympathetic and supportive. Anyone who tries to tell them otherwise, is thought to be heartless and unable to understand this complex person. Black and white facts are meaningless. Once presented with irrefutable truth, they claim there's been a set up or conspiracy—there is nothing in their mental makeup at this point that allows them to admit Jodi is dangerous killer.

JodiAriasIsInnocent claims to be the #1 Jodi Arias support site. I believe it's run by a friend of hers, and among other things, it exclusively offers Jodi Arias's art work for sale, along with forums and links to other Jodi supporters endeavors. It is like a lot of Jodi Arias support sites—it displays an unwavering, almost delusional support of Jodi's innocence, but where many other sites welcome opinions that question aspects of her testimony that are inconsistent or confounding, this particular site quickly shuts down that conversation and accusations of being a 'hater' and 'sheep' surface.

According to that site, if you believe Jodi Arias is guilty, and if you've been exposed to the same court room testimony, to the same media accounts and have formed an opinion based on logic, common sense and indisputable facts, then that means you are a 'hater' and a sheep. And if you're a hater, that means that you're jealous, and your jealousy is based on the "fact" that not only is Jodi Arias prettier than you (or prettier than any girl you could attract), but with her "genius" IQ of 119, she is also more intelligent than you. In addition, haters are also bullies/name-callers and are heartless for sympathizing with a "perverted sexual deviant, pedophile, abuser".

Several accused prosecution witness, Dr. Janeen DeMarte, of testifying against Jodi because she was jealous of Jodi's beauty and her genius IQ. That actually made me laugh, I think Dr. Demarte's IQ far suppasses Jodi's for one, and for the other, I think she is pretty as well.

While the jodiarisisinnocent site bases all of their beliefs on emotional responses rather than factual evidence, I prefer to let that same evidence and logic point to the truth.

1. Jodi's IQ of 119 is NOT considered "genius" on any standard IQ test. Average intelligence is generally thought to fall between 85-115. Her score of 119 puts her at above average, which is about half a standard deviation above average. Genius IQ are considered over 140. She's bright, but far from being a genius. There goes one of the defining characteristics of a "hater". I don't really care if she's a genius or not, but any non-genius can tell you that 119 is far from genius and is nothing to be particularly jealous about (even George Bush's IQ is estimated to be between 125-130, which means he's even smarter than Jodi! Ha!)

2. Jodi's attractiveness and your lack thereof. This is just stupid. This is the standard battle-cry from shallow people who believe all life decisions and considerations should be based solely upon looks, particularly if a woman is at the heart of the discussion. This is actually a very very dangerous mind-set. To these people, the qualities they equate with being "good" or "innocent" are:

Young
Female
Pretty
Slender
Intelligent
Misunderstood

"Bad" or "guilty" people possess the following qualities:

Older
Unattractive
Fat or overweight
Low intelligence

Had Jodi been unattractive or overweight, her support base would drop considerably.

Now, this is not a fault solely of Jodi Arias supporters, it's a fault of our society and culture at large, but it does point to a bias right out of the starting gate.

Jodi may have been pretty at the time of the murders, but that in no way precludes her ability to carry out a horrendous premeditated murder, including partial decapitation.

In many of the posters' minds, Jodi is innocent, her witnesses are the most intelligent and credible, and her testimony is believable, including lies which they understand because of the pressure she was under. What she is inconsistent about is thought to have little importance anyway and they struggle to understand why the prosecutor, Juan Martinez, would yammer on about inconsequential things like if she shot or stabbed him first, at what point she dyed her hair, her own deviant behaviors like taping her phone calls (which they say she had a perfect right to do to show how perverted he was). When Juan makes a valid point with evidence to back it up, he's considered a bully and trying to grandstand for his own popularity.

In their minds, Travis was a pig, his family is ugly and manipulative, his witnesses are all shady liars and covering for him, expert witnesses are lying at the bequest of Juan Martinez. When Martinez makes an objection it's because the prosecution is afraid of the truth coming out. When Nurmi or Wilmott make an objection it's because Martinez is a jerk and is purposely raising points he knows he's not suppose to. The medical examiner, the police, the investigators have all lied and planted or withheld evidence favorable to Jodi, and the judge is also biased, partly because of her jealousy of Jodi's beauty and genius. Why? Why this conspiracy to set up against this poor gentle domestic violence victim of genius intelligence and stunning beauty, who never encouraged a sexual relationship with this deviant?

When Jodi cries after viewing the video of her lying in Travis's lap while he told a story to a crowd of friends, the comments are "poor Jodi, it still hurts all these years" and how tortured she must be:

Yet a week a half earlier when Jodi and her attorney were sat in front of Travis's siblings as they viewed a blown up picture of Travis's eye, no one offered any compassion or empathy. They talked about poor Jodi having to sit in front with them all staring daggers at her. They talked how "it's been 5 years, it's not like the couldn't have got over this by now" as Travis's sister sobbed 5 feet from the woman who brutally murdered their brother, and now they were also viewing the very image he saw seconds before he died. They talk about how their tears were fake and joke about how long they must have practiced to get their performance just right. How can you not emphasize with their torment? Even if you hate Travis with every fiber of your being, how can you not have compassion for his family members who have to soldier through such a horrendous situation as sitting in such close proximity to their brother's killer. I think Jodi is guilty as hell, yet it's very easy for me to have compassion when the camera sweeps over her mom and now her grandma.

When the trial presents proof that Jodi lied about a material fact, these posters come up with the most fantastical reasons to exonerate Jodi "Jodi was known for being neat, therefore she probably straightened up the closet after she clamored over the shelves to get the gun". Seriously, you think she's in a desperate life and death struggle and she's going to pick up a pair of shoes and some shirts and return them to the closet?

Sadly, I think a lot of these people know Jodi is guilty of premeditated murder. They question every single obvious piece of evidence, and try to wiggle it into a narrative that makes Jodi the victor. When this evidence is presented they say "oh poor Jodi, this looks really bad...I hope her lawyers can beat it" or "what is the almighty gallon number that Jodi has to stay under to survive?" This last question was in response to testimony that Jodi purchased about 28 gallons of gas at one time, and her car only held 13.5 max (assuming an empty tank) and she had 3 5-gallon cans. Other people in the same thread says "maybe the gas station pumps cheated customers. When were they last inspected?" and "she could have been buying gas for someone stranded...what a waste of time this was", and "someone could have panhandled her for a few gallons". This was 4 in the morning people, no one panhandled her for gas at 4 in the morning!

The jodiariaisinnocent folks put their own spin on the facts, and then run with whatever fits their agenda. Here is an example. A poster asks why certain people haven't posted. Another surmises that "haters" are Googling "Jodi Arias is innocent" and then clicking their own results, bypassing the supporter site as a way to trick Google into thinking their site is more popular. Still another comes back ranting about how psycho haters are to do such a thing, even though it was only a suggested reason, and not based on any facts whatsoever. These supporters have done that throughout the trial—very specious arguments that are taken as fact and then spread by virtue of one suggestion. By the way, Google does not work that way. Google works off an algorithm that takes many variables into consideration and it may just be their site isn't as popular as they want to think (more delusions).

I sincerely hope the people on that site who have blinders on can escape the lure of a violent psychopath in their real lives. I hope they have friends and family who can support them before for it's too late.

I think one of the saddest thing for Jodi (and all of us) is that if she were to walk out after some years in prison, she will do so without getting the medical and psychological attention she needs. Two therapists told her she's a victim of PTSD and domestic violence, and another states she has borderline personality disorder. What chance do you think she has of getting the more accurate diagnosis of BPD treated? What chance do you think she has now of even believing that's her problem?

Next week the jury will deliberate. Much of the most damning evidence was deemed prejudicial, which means they will not have that on the table to consider. Prejudicial evidence is evidence that illicits an emotional response, and tends to either villify the defendant justly or unjustly. The jury will never judge some of the more disturbing aspects of Jodi's personality and reputation like sneaking through the doggie door, stealing the engagement ring, being accused of slashing the tires, her interrogation tapes, her parents admitting she was mentally ill or in some way disturbed,  and a myriad of details we've witnessed that have helped form our opinions. I, for one, hope that should the jury side on a not-guilty for 1st degree murder, that they don't go home, see the voluminous evidence pointing to her guilt and then regret the decision they made. I can't say I want the death penalty for anyone. In my mind, it's abhorrent. but where Jodi Arias may have once been a good person, she no longer is, and no longer can be.

Jodi Arias supporters will celebrate her "innocence", but will they sleep well the night she's eventually released from prison? I know I won't.
